What Are Swimming Trunk Made Of?

Swim trunks are made from a blend. As different types of trunks are constructed of dissimilar materials, the majority of them are multi-blend.

This implies that the trunks aren't made entirely of the same fabric. Polyester and spandex are common material combinations for swim trunks. Cotton or nylon mixes are used in several trunks.

When it comes to men's swimwear, there are three fabrics to look for:

1. Polyester Swim Trunk Many swim trunks for men and boys are composed entirely of polyester. This fabric is often comprised of a synthetic polymer known as polyethylene terephthalate, and it may be used for everything from swim wear to men's polo shirts. Polyester is a fantastic choice for swim trunks since it is soft, durable, and wrinkle-free. Even after repeated exposure to chlorine and UV radiation, it dries rapidly and preserves its form.

2. Nylon Swim Trunk

Nylon is another popular fabric for swim trunks. Despite the fact that nylon is made from a synthetic substance similar to polyester, it is unique. Because nylon absorbs more water than polyester, it takes longer to dry.

It is, however, a little more stretchy, making it a great choice for water activities. Polyester has a more smooth appearance than nylon, which has a more gleaming appearance.

Polyester an nylon are both soft, long-lasting, and easy to clean. Like polyester, most nylon trunks provide UPF 50 sun protection for covered areas.

3. Blended Fabrics

Some swim trunks are constructed from mixed materials in addition to polyester and nylon. Polyamide/spandex and nylon/spandex are the most frequent fabric mixes for men's swimwear.

Spandex adds elasticity to any cloth, as you might expect. Look for items produced with Lycra® XtraLifeTM spandex if you want swim trunks that will last a long time. It lasts on average ten times longer than standard spandex even after a summer of swimming.
